The MRT Purple Line Project Bang Yai – Bang Sue Section
The Mass Rapid TransitAuthority of Thailand (MRTA) has been assigned to implement the mass rapid transit extension and new projects with a total length of 94 kilometers. The first project that the MRTA intends to complete is the MRT Purple Line Project Bang Yai – Bang Sue which covers the route alignment of 23 kilometers. The project will feature an elevated rail system throughout the line with16 stations; namely, Khlong Bang Phai, Talad Bang Yai, Sam Yaek Bang Yai, Bang Phlu, Bang Rak Yai, Tha It, Sai Ma, Phra Nang Klao Bridge, Yaek Nonthaburi 1, Si Phonsawan, Nonthaburi Civic Center, Ministry of Public Health, Yaek Tiwanon, Wong Sawang, Bang Son and Tao Poon Station which also serves as Interchange Station between the Purple Line and the existing Blue Line.
The Purple Line Project has its alignment following mostly the median of the existing roads by starting at Kanchana Phisek Road, turning left onto Rattana Thibet Road, turning right onto Tiwanon Road, turning left onto Krung Thep – Nonthaburi Road, Pracharat Road and Pracharat Sai 2 Road. Similar to the Green and Blue Line, a heavy rail transit system will be adopted in the Purple Line Project. There will be 4 Park and Ride Facilities located at Khlong Bang Phai, Sam Yaek Bang Yai, Tha It and Yaek Nonhaburi 1. Being engaged to carry out the survey work and detailed design work for the Project, the Project Consultant Consortium comprises : Asian Engineering Consultants Corp Ltd, PB Asia Co Ltd, Pacific Consultant International Co Ltd, Thai Engineering Consultants Co Ltd, Design Concept Co Ltd, DE Consultant Deuce Heisenbahn Consulting Gmbh and Wisit Engineering Consutant Co Ltd.
