1. Where does the Project route alignment start and end ?
The Project route alignment starts at Bang Yai canal, heads southward along Kanchana Phisek Road, turns left at Bang Yai T-junction onto Rattana Thibet Road, pass along Nonthaburi Civic Center, then turns right onto Tiwanon Road, and turns left onto Krung Thep-Nonthaburi Road toward Tao Poon T-junction, and ends at Bang Sue Station. The total route covers a distance of 23 kilometers.
2. How many stations are there along the route and where are they ?
There are altogether 16 elevated stations along the route which comprise :
1. Khlong Bang Phai Station
Located on Kanchana Phisek Road. Connecting with Depot/Workshop, train stabling yard and Park & Ride facilities
2. Talad Bang Yai Station
Located on Kanchana Phisek Road. Close to Kasemraj Rattana Thibet Hospital, Big C Supermarket, Rattana Thibet Village, Carre Four Supermarket, and Bang Yai City Villa
3. Sam Yaek Bang Yai Station
Located on Kanchana Phisek Road. Close to Krisadanakon Villa, Dhanakan Village, Park & Ride Facilities, Intermodal Transfer Facilities
4. Bang Phlu Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road, at the crossroad of Bang Kruay - Sai Noi Road. Close to Rajpruerk Villa
5. Bang Rak Yai Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road, at the crossroad of Rajpruerk Road. Close to Wongchai Nakon Villa, Phanarin Villa, Peep In Hotel
6. Tha It Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road. Close to Public Bus Operation Office Area 7, Pruek Sa Villa, Ubon Charti Villa, Park & Ride Facilities
7. Sai Ma Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road. Close to Laddarom Villa, Sue Tong Villa, Narathip Villa, After this station, the train will run across Chao Phraya River on the new bridge in parallel with the existing roadway bridge.
8. Phra Nang Klao Bridge Station
Located at the T-junction of Phra Nang Klao Bridge close to Chantima Jetty
9. Yaek Nonthaburi 1 Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road, close to Central Plaza, Park Gallery Villa, Park & Ride Facilities
10. Si Phon Sawan Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road, close to Rattana Thibet Lane no. 22, Noble Home Villa, Richmond Hotel, Carre Four Supermarket, Nueng Condominium
11. Nonthaburi Civic Center Station
Located on Rattana Thibet Road, in front of Nonthaburi District Office and Municipality Office, Police station and Thai Kom Satellite Station
12. Ministry of Public Health Station
Located on Tiwanon Road, close to Ministry of Public Health, Tiwanon Lane 3-8, True Value Shop, and Sri Thanya Hospital
13. Yaek Tiwanon Station
Located on Krung Thep-Nonthaburi Road, close to the Fifth Avenue Condomenium
14. Wong Sawang Station
Located on Krung Thep-Nonthaburi Road, near Wong Sawang intersection, fire brigade, Bic C Supermarket
15. Bang Son Station
Located on Krung Thep-Nonthaburi Road between Lane 25 and 34. Interchange with Bang Son Railway Station, and Red Line of State Railway of Thailand
16. Tao Poon Station
Located on Krung Thep-Nonthaburi Road, at the crossroad of Pracharat 2 Road, Tao Poon Intersection, serving as interchange station with Blue Line extension line Bang Sue – Tha Phra section
3. What are the characteristics of the Station ?
The Station under the Project has been designed in accordance with NFPA 101 and NFPA 130 which emphasize life and property safety, passenger comfort, safety of the general public, local residents living near the Station and environmental considerations. The station shall be equipped with lift, escalator and disable’s facilities. The major components of the Station shall include :
Entrance for access to the station is typically located inside the pavement to avoid blocking the flow of walking passer-bys. Adequate space is provided for the purpose of seating in sunlight proofing and rain proofing condition. Drainage is in place to prevent possible flooding. Passengers could easily connect with other modes of public transportations at grade level.
Concourse provides an open space for passenger’s service area where walkway is provided to walk across the roadways. On this level, Ticket Vendor Machine and Automatic Fare Collection gate is installed. In some stations, passengers could walk through to reach other buildings or parking lot from this level.
This level allows passengers to get on and off the train on centre platform. Platform Screen Door is installed half height. Apart from the two escalators, there is an emergency staircase.
Viaduct is elevated structure with the height of 17-19 meters from the ground, thus running above the pedestrian crosswalk, flyover and U-turn ramp. The pier supporting the viaduct is located on the median of the road, with maximum distance of 40 meters apart. The pier shape is curve slender and does not obscure the roadside buildings.
The train is designed as Heavy Rail with air-conditioning system. Carrying capacity of 320 passengers/car, the train can transport not less than 50,000 passengers per hour per direction.
4. Where are the Park & Ride Facilities under the Project ?
There are four Park & Ride Facilities under the Project, namely :
Khlong Bang Phai, Sam Yaek Bang Yai, Tha It and Sam Yaek Nonthaburi 1 Stations with the parking capacity of 1,800, 1,450, 1,950 and 470 cars, respectively.
5. Is there any interchange with other rail lines or other modes of public transportation ?
The MRT Purple Line could connect with other Rail System Projects as below :
1. Blue Line Extension Line Hua Lamphong-Bang Sue section
2. Purple Line Extension Line Bang Sue- Rajburana section interchanging at Tao Poon Station
3. Blue Line Extension Line Bang Sue-Tha Phra section interchanging at Tao Poon Station
4. Pink Line Khae Rai-Minburi section interchanging at Nonthaburi Civic Center Station
5. Red Line owned by State Railway of Thailand interchanging at Bang Son Station
6. South-bound Railway owned by State Railway of Thailand interchanging at Bang Son Station
MRTA shall coordinate with the Bangkok Mass Transport Authority (BMTA) for setting up bus stop poles near the Project’s stations, and coordinate with Harbor Department to provide the jetty for transport boats to and from Phra Nang Klao Bridge Station.
